I know the way I can see by the moonlight

Now come on woman, come follow me home

'Two Pairs of Hands’ would just be a song trying to explain what it’s like coping with all of the info and trying to collate everything when you’re standing in the middle of the stage with a huge band. You’ve got a big audience around you and you’re just trying to process all of this stuff at the same time.’

All the songs about being in a band come out once he stops playing in a band! (Live anyway)

He's still in the band.

A 'stock' Knopfler tune with some 'stock' licks and a groove straight out of Band-in-a-Box. Lyrically weak. If he's trying to convey the drama and excitement of playing in front of a big crowd, he seriously failed IMO. He might as well have tried to explain how to replace a bin liner.

Agree about the weak lyrics. At least I don't find them interesting in any way or form, let alone "deep"...

Every single song on Tracker f.e. has "deeper" lyrics.

3 songs in a row released about the same topic might be a new world record...

DTRW was a huge disappointment for me.  Yes, there were some songs I liked but not very many compared to the previous album, Tracker, which I still listen to including the bonus songs and consider it to be a masterpiece.   I like what I have heard from the new album so far and I hope it won't be another disappointment.

The good thing about this album is that it will be considerably shorter than his previous ones because it needs to fit on vinyl. I can appreciate "slow and low-key", in the right moment, but then the album mustn't drag. Shorter running time helps to avoid that.

So are you saying we're not getting guitar solos and extra songs due to the vinyl nerds on here?  ;)
