Can I just take a second to point out that this freedom for threads to go off in wild and crazy directions is one of the things that makes AMIT great.

Wasn't allowed in other places...

Yeahhhhh!    AMIT is the greatest!     :D     Sometimes threads are a bit like the children's party game, "Chinese Whispers" -  they start out as one thing and end up as something completely different!    ;D

Hehe. It's fun, but kind of frustrating when you click page 1 of a thread, then skip to page 16, and you go "uh ... hang on a sec ..."

I remember when we were on the "other" forum, at one time, we were restricted to only 6 posts a day each, so couldn't enter into any long conversations! :o    Those were the days!  LOL  ;D

Rules laid down by a person whose appetite for power clearly isn't satisfied elsewhere. Go figure. The word "meaningless" springs to mind.

What I really like about this place here is that the idea is really WORKING! I am around AMIT for two years in June and can't remember one single fight, argument or really tough or rude writings from anybody (apart from Dusty, but that's a special case...  ;) ) I mean, almost all the people from MKNews
emigrated into this fine place and prove that it is possible to meet and talk and post without too strong restrictions! I sometimes use other forums of course, workwise, not MK related ones, and always wonder how it comes that the level of behaviour is so high in this one and is not at others. Some german ones are really tough to read, whereas at AMIT almost everyone really is trying to write in a proper way... And say something intelligent, more or less....  :lol

@Waterline Man - yeah, the tape days. Good times. I still have my Luxman hifi tape deck to which I would record tapes from CDs with Dolby C noise reduction technology  :o and compile best-of tapes. Would then put the Walkman in my belt, jump on my bicycle and ride around the city in the hot afternoon sun. Those were the days, man.

I remember a friend at school gave me loan of his Big Counrty "Steeltown" tape to copy it so I got 2 tape recorders & played it on one while recording it on the other in my bedroom - everyone was told to stay out of the room for about an hour while the recording was going on. I dont know what happened to the tape but Big Country still rock,RIP Stuart Adamson - the best thing to come out of Scotland since Kenny Dalglish :o :o

There was of course one infamous disruption around the time of the Get Lucky release. That incident caused all of the Editors major, major anguish but looking back now at the way the forum has flourished I'm certain we made the right decision in the end, even if it went against our natural instincts.

I guess MK just generally attracts a better class of person. :)

John Wilcox ... not easy to forget about that one.
I hope next year he'll have something to complaint about on Guy's forum.  ;)

I thought the same then did a search for his name on guys forum and I remember it all now. He was telling guy tales of members of this forum discussing taping of concerts and guy got quite annoyed about it. Who is John Wilcox anyway?
