Never liked the STP tour and can't absolutely understand the AMIT demand for the Madrid DVD - ridiculous non-stage, Mark looking tired in his little Red T-Shirt, mediocre versions of almost all songs.. I mean a DVD should also offer some visual content. (For example the 2008 stage).

Also absolutely unrealistic to expect unreleased 'original" versions or Pyroman and stuff.
The bonus tracks imcluding Long Highway are a good realistic option (Double CD or Vinyl).

I would go for a complete official mix of the Vaison 1996 Show anytime.  ;D ;D

LE

The STP concert I attended at  the RAH was a bit of a let-down for me and I remember coming home on the train feeling pretty depressed, not at all elated as I usually would have been when leaving a concert.   It was partly because Mike Henderson was just too loud and seemed to overshadow MK's guitar. Junkie Doll was excellent, however.

Goin' into Tow Law....

I had almost the same depressed feeling on my way home. After the high impact of the 1996 shows the 2001 shows were a huge let down for me:
Calling Elvis just slowed down, most boring opener ever
Walk Of Life AGAIN
Sultans massively shortened and first time many greenies and mistakes  spread all over the song.
Set list too calm and slow, Pyroman and Junkie Doll the only positive impulse.
Plus in Hamburg they shortened the set from two songs and I got the shortest show of the tour (1h45min).

I loved the more rock orientated 2005 Set much more (although MK with cringey glasses and very non-energy Performance when I look back now.)

If there be an anniversary box i think it will be just like BiA also because the b-sides of the singles where already released on the bonus cd of the studio album boxset.
But an official recording of that tour which include “Pyroman” would be great to have Although we already have a radio broadcast version of that song. But a studio version of excist would also be great

I remeber I left with happy face on the 2001 tour.

There was of course UP and DOWN compared with 1996.

Pyroman, Junkie Doll, SAN, WII, MFN, SFA where my high  from the show.

So I asked Guy about the rheinhardt amp's and here is our Q&A:

Q: "Hi Guy, I have a question regarding the amps that Mark used on stage during his tours (and probably during the recording sessions). Since when en for what is Mark using is Reinhardt amp’s? I see these amps all the time standing next to each other on a lot of footage. Thanks in advance, Pieter."

A: "That’s probably a question for a fan forum. I honestly can’t remember."

So here I am, asking it on a fan forum ;D Does anybody know for what guitars Mark is using his Reinhardt amps? And on what songs? I thougt he used his Les Paul on a Marshall JMT45 and his Fender guitars on a Vibrolux or something but I can be wrong.

Before the Kemper in 2019, he used Marshall cabs with different amps. Off the top of my head: Soldanos from 1988-2001, then he moved to Komets in 2005 and Reinhardts in 2008. I think in 2008 the Tone King also made its debut on stage for clean stuff like True Love Will Never Fade and Seattle. In the studio, he's used the Vibrolux a lot over the years.

Ingo has a lot of info on this (mk-guitar.com)

BTW, it's all nice info to know, but it really doesn't matter if you're looking for his tone. It's mostly in his fingers, the way he phrases, choice of notes, etc. He can make a $50 amp and $100 guitar sound like him. I've seen people buying incredibly expensive stuff, copying all his effects, pickups, and not sound like him in a thousand years.

Yeah you are completely right about that. It's not that I want to buy these amp but all the time you see these big red amp's standing behind Mark so I was wondering where he uses these big things for. I have an Vox Valvetronix tube amp which I use with an Les Paul tribute and Fender replica guitar and it sounds amazing for the money and to sound (a littlebit) like MK.
