you don't want to get you one of those
(Mark Knopfler)

That old car would like to break your heart
But she too far gone, to even start
Take it for one who knows
You don't wanna get you one of those

She's always been as mean as she appears
Ain't done no Rock and Roll in 4 years
They should put it in a 'Crusher!' I suppose
You don't wanna get you one of those

Leave her over there behind the barn
Where , she’ll be 'out of the way!'
She's got Chassis rot
The gear box shot!
She's had her day

It's all over for that old heap
She needs a whole lot of more than beauty sleep
If you want to get you one that goes
You don't wanna get you one of those

Leave her over there behind the barn
Where, she’ll be 'out of the way!'
She's got Chassis rot
The gear box shot!
She's had her day

It's all over for that old heap
She needs a whole lot of more than beauty sleep
If you want to get you one that goes
You don't wanna get you one of those

I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home

Yes Randy newman, exactly !

more, it reminds me of "you got a friend in me", that got a very nice cover by Claire and Dad  :) :

Oh and Pavel, these two songs have this famous chords I was talking about : diminished that sound augmented to my ears, and vice versa  ;)

Seriously? I think that this song or Playtime Deluxe do not tell us anything about the new MK album

I don't think either of them can tell us anything about the new album, but if an album with less whistles and pipes was to be released then that would be good IMO.  That is what I meant.

It changes the point of view :) We know that Richard Bennett is in British Grove in London. We do not know if there is Michael McGoldrick and John McCusker

After all, even while You Don’t Want To Get You One of Those isn't the greatest song ever by any means, but it does 1) Stuck in your head for days and weeks and 2) Sounds like a soundtrack for a movie never released, which is a good thing anyway. Also, it's just a pleasure to see a lifetime fan (Tommy) playing with one of his idols, because that's what Mark was doing all of his life playing with his idols. In anyway this collaboration is just an amazing piece of history and also is a great little song. Literally nothing wrong with it, including the stylish lyric video on Tommy's channel.

Sometimes very simple songs, modest means of expression stay for longer. Mark has it

I don't hear anything wrong at 0:07 or 0:08

the error at 1:47, well yes that one is there, not sure MK would have left it on his own recording but it's the kind of stuff that is considered fair on an acoustic

nice little song

and yes I would like Knopfler+Gilmour too

Yeah, you can't get wrong with these guys having like 120 years of playing combined, tiny little microscopic mistakes happen all the time.

My personal problem with this song is the title. You Don't Want To Get You One Of Those... What? Why not, I don't know, The Old Car Blues or something. Even when Tommy Emmanuel played it, he said something like it's the song about one of those "Little Heaps". But it may be just my problem, I'm not a fan of long titles. Like Ben Affleck's debut movie as the director titled, hm, "I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney" (proof: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Killed_My_Lesbian_Wife,_Hung_Her_on_a_Meat_Hook,_and_Now_I_Have_a_Three-Picture_Deal_at_Disney).

Some of the best films ever made have long titles:

Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines or How I Flew from London to Paris in 25 hours 11 minutes
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
Police Academy 6: City Under Siege

I personally think song titles with the word "blues" in them are a bit cheesy.

A good point. One of my all time favourite songs is "René And Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After The War". Pretty long, huh?
Anyway, I see this video and I want Randy Newman to cover new MK song so bad, somebody help me. Maybe write a letter to him?
