My idea of heaven is a place where the Tyne meets the Delta, where folk music meets the blues.

It was such a great pleasure to see Mark & Band in my home town  :wave

Just a few thoughts:

I believe Mark feels more confident with his playing now comparing to the 1st RAH gig which I was lucky to attend as well.
It seems for me he is in a better shape overall, even if the Gdańsk/Sopot event was the third night in a row, it seems touring suits him  ;)

The setlist is very good, at least for someone attending just one show. I didn't read this forum since the tour started and the presence of OUATITW, MFN and SB was such a great surprise to say the least. I thought I'll never say it a few years ago, but I missed DWB. Maybe because I'm ageing and starting to remember this song as a kind of a milestone for all the tours from 1996 on?

Ergo Arena is known to be a rather difficult place to play in terms of acoustics (huge echoes) but the crew did a GREAT job. The sound was perfectly audible, not too loud and I could even answer dozens of questions of my 7 years old son. I hope we didn't disturb other fans sitting nearby too much!

The fair admission service worked perfectly for me, maybe because "our" show was not among the most popular ones, but at the RAH we got good places as well.

The Band is great. I briefly scrolled the "Is this the best band he's ever had?" thread, you wrote it all down and I agree with both enthusiastic and critical opinions haha! It's all about limitations and compromises now, I don't feel I have anything interesting to add.

Thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed the show.

"I believe Mark feels more confident with his playing now...

"The setlist is very good, at least for someone attending just one show."

Wholeheartedly agree with these statements.  Curiously, I think he put more interesting licks into his playing in some of the early shows like Pamplona or Bordeaux for example.  Currently his playing seems to be as repetitive as the setlist.

"I'm playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order."

Funny thinking back to the OES tour, I used to trawl the record fairs to buy what bootlegs I could just to get MK’s different solos on calling Elvis, sultans, planet, telegraph and tunnel. Used to love listening to how his fingers dived off in different directions and you never quite knew what was coming next yet it always (almost) worked. But hey his playing is great now if perhaps as choreographed as was in those autocratic DS days! To be almost 70, playing the way he does and doing a pretty intensive tour, good on him!! I hope I’m as active at that age!

Another self-confessed record fayre trawler here!  Many £££'s spent then later traded on the internet.  The torrent generation have missed out on so much.  ;D

Gdansk was the last European show where they use their own PA, as the next shows are mostly festivals....
