I ordered the CDs from the Norwegian record store when the release date was set to 17.05. The week after that, the delivery was set to 13.06. Now it just says "unconfirmed date". I am not surprised, this seem to be normal way to serve MK -fans.. It's no big loss for me anyway, I have listend to some of the San Antonio songs on Spotify, but I think I am more a MK solo fan than a DS fan

BTW, there is a greenie in the TOL outro, before the built up in the final solo, and it always had been here, because Alchemy was meant to be a "real" concert recording, not a polished live album (lot of discussions about this subject, OTN, etc...)... so Guy should have kept this philosophy about that gig imho

I get what you're saying, and I agree , there's no real obvious mistakes there, and it is a nice version, I just think it could've potentially sounded messy with proper clarity. audience recordings always gloss over things, Even the middle of PB when the verses/chorus' are playing is pretty messy when you hear it in full quality, Where as you can't completely tell on that bootleg. compare it to the MFN (original) version of PB for instance which is edited and way more polished.

I think there's a middle ground between the soulessness of OTN and something super raw , I just think a bit of editing would've made a big difference on some of it and potentially got PB on the compilation. I don't really listen to the new tracks of alchemy because they're a bit too raw to me, I'm thinking guy felt the same about that outro for whatever reason.

In summary - I agree, I think he should've left it on! But I understand a little bit why.

It’s not messy to me on the bootleg. I think they were trying to recreate the vibe of Portobello Market in the 70’s with the different mix of musical styles intermixing, blending in an outdoor setting, which we are more accustomed to nowadays with festivals and constant music from shops etc as well. But maybe it was trying to recreate that eclectic mix of street music outside, all blending into each other at times, with things interacting and sounding lively. That’s what I like picturing about it when I listen to the bootleg.

It was just endless jamming and noodling without any musical value. Disn't even like the shortened version, let alone the far too long one. Good job by Guy.

Totally agree here.  Love the studio version, but the live version was simply to highlight Mel Collins and give him something to do - nothing more.  Always a skipper for me.  It may have been okay if you were at the show - give you a chance for a pee break - but not the sort of track I find an easy listen at home.  That repetitive back and forth between Mark and Mel drives me nuts!

And I do detect something at around 8:52-8:57 where a note sounds a little off and the sax interrupts Mark and they are out of synch.

Oh yes! I loved that one! Sounded so fresh. Very nice guitar work on that version. Highly recommended, easily the best track from the Rainbow Show from my point of view.

Nice surprise this morning; the 3 CD edition was in my mailbox. It was surprising since the reply from direstraits.com was that they didn't know if it would be back in stock, and then suddenly the Norwegian store sent it.

In the liner note, I spotted an "Englified"  Swedish word. I was like smorgasbord?..Ah, smørgåsbord! It can be translated to "rich buffé" (can't it? I bet there are Swedes here to confirm)
