Looks like someone behind/beside the stage. Maybe a family member.

In earnest:

This was truly a historical moment - I was really moved to see them both doing "Forever Young". Mark is such a great man, I loved about it that it was just a very small gesture, not over the top, totally MK style, modest, humble, genuine and true. And Bob the same had not to give back huge smiles, a grin or another big gesture, it was just the perfect moment with a lot of respect and sympathy involved on both sides. Both rewarded themselves for this great tour and filled the night with meaning and significance.

I am proud to be a fan of both of them I must admit. And could there have been a better song for this than Forever Young?

I am thinking about why the heck should they not repeat it all in the nearer future? Just imagine what would have been possible musically and artistically if the two of them would have done more songs together this way, not only  MK escorting on guitar but really DUETTING...
I envy all the people who attended this great moment!

Some Norwegian fans (over for the Bob shows with Mark in Glasgow) were eating in a restaurant on Sauciehall Street. One of them (someone I have known for over 30 years) saw Mark eating alone and went over to ask if he was Mark Knopfler. I can't recall all the details but his reply was something like, "If you say so". My friend explained who they were and why there were in Glasgow and Mark apparently commented something like, "Thank you for paying for my meal" (paying indirectly that is, not directly). Anyway, as Mark left, he did come over to their table and did sign an autograph for one of the party.

and that it actually was Mark Knopfler  ;D

I can vouch for the ER story, it was from my friend. I was with him every night but unfortunately not at lunchtime.

Some qualities of great men are really under-appreciated. After the first impressions about his musical abilities, someone has to value his modesty and tolerance to all the fans. It does not make the music better, but surely it makes it more personal. Anyway he obviously remembers being a fan, and his fans are not people ready to tear him apart (like some "pop stars" that if they don't go around with body-guards, they will probably end up in the hospital naked and missing some parts, since their fans try to keep a souvenir...). So maybe it astonishes him that young people (OK age doesn't really count...) attend his shows and ask for autographs.  But I guess some of the stories (not the particular ones, they are almost ordinary) are almost definitely urban legends.  I remember one, bare with me you will see the connection (loose I must admit).

If you are reading this thread for the live show, don't go any further. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, go on.

A young man buys a farm and discovers in the barn a motorcycle. Since he is not driving one, he takes it to the local shop to see if he can get any money for it, as spare parts, since the bike looks old. After checking the mechanic offers him 1000 dollars. Taken by surprise, because he wasn't expecting that much, he turns the offer down. Curious he takes it to the big city, at a big motorbike shop. The manager after looking at it, offers him 10,000 dollars. Convinced that there is more to be made, but unable to figure out what, he goes to NY at the biggest shop in the country. The owner offers him 100,000 on the spot. Completely amazed he leaves and contacts the motorbike company, telling them the story and asking them if they are interested in buying.  After a couple of hours the company CEO drops by, and upon seeing the bike he offers 500,000 dollars. The young man, realizing that not only he could pay his mortgage, but make some serious cash too, says OK, with one condition: that the CEO will reveal to him why all this money. After signing the papers and all, the CEO tells him:"Open the lid of the reservoir and take a look at the bottom of it." So he does and there he sees an inscription:"From Elvis Presley to James Dean with love". It was one of the special custom made bikes Presley gave away to James Dean.

And back to the topic, I wonder why the house was not full. It has to do with the crisis, were there other attractions-shows? Are they fed up? Or what? I am only asking, because since I am a fan of both, a double bill would be great to see, but if it wasn't successful in the UK, I imagine that it won't happen again, (in Greece...)
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
