I already insinuated a similar idea earlier. Am convinced
And them saying Musical is only to put us of from the exciting truth

I was reading this topic as I listened to "Wonderful Tonight" with you-know-who. I'm in a fair spot here, because I'm not a huge fan of Eric's. I like his music, but not too overly excited about it. Although their collaborations with MK has always been great, so if this is the news — I'm looking forward to it!

Guys, I'd like to share with you some info I got just today - with a clear warning it must me taken with a huge grain of salt.

I have a friend from New Zealand that knows a technician who's worked for both Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton. According to him MK and EC discussed further collaborations during the recordings for the JJ Cale tribute. The guy wasn't at BG at the time but has connections and apparently that's what he heard.

As I said, as much as I trust my mate this is NOT official! He heard it from someone who heard it from someone who heard it... but can it be true? I'd like to think so.

So Richard saying in an interview MK is working on songs for a musical is not true.  :hmm
Somehow i found that very hard to believe, he would be lying  :disbelief, no way.
But i hope you are right  ;D ;D

Hasn't Eric Clapton all but hung up his guitar now?  I'm sure I heard he had some health problems, was it shoulder/arm issues combined with some partial deafness?...I cant recall, but anyhoo I thought this put a stop to his guitar playing...?

He's back on track. Even did some gigs in NY and LA a couple of weeks ago.

Again, regarding the collaboration, it's just a rumour. I asked my friend to dig into more details but he said that would be too invasive.

Guy in his forum about the awaited diary:

"It's been a very busy few weeks. I have taken some images and WILL put together a diary of sorts. It won't be massively revealing initially as we are ongoing and aren't done recording"

- we are ongoing
- we aren't done recording

So... the band session, wasn't for the record? if it was for the record... if they aren't done recording... why they haf a band session?

You might get lucky, now and then

For the last MK records there were/are always multiple band sessions.
So normal procedure.

Hmmmm sometimes there are indeed more bandsessions but that has not always been so....
Perhaps they are working on songs for his new album and also on songs for this secret project...
What i do believe now is that a new MK album is far from finished..... Keep in mind that they are in studio working now for more than 1 year!  :think :hmm ???

"done recording" means "although we have already done some recording we have not yet finished all of the recording necessary for this record".
Just check past studio diaries and you will see it is perfectly normal to have multiple band sessions in the studio.

It means they've recorded things but they're still going to record more stuff. When you're done recording you have finished it all.

These multiple band sessions have become a thing now that they have all the time in the world to spend in the studio. At first I thought it would be a great thing but now it seems to be a step back in terms of productivity. Mark's a very slow human being as he said himself multiple times. If there's nothing pushing him he'll take his time - and it will take too long as we can see.

He is just being modest. 9 records, 4 film scores, 8 large and 3 small tours and a state-the-art studio in the last 20 years (plus all the guest appearances), one can only hope to be as productive as this man.

I tend to agree with Mark. He doesn't mean he's lazy and stuff, he says it because just compared to other writers/musicians/composers he's on "average" at best in the terms of quantity. Van Morrison have 37 studio albums (THIRTY SEVEN :o), Paul McCartney have 24 + The Beatles (and The Beatles alone had as much songs as had been written by Mark over his whole career). Bruce Springsteen have dozens of live and studio albums and so on.

Mark, on the other hand, have only 14 albums for both DS and solo career and roughly 218 songs released (leaving instrumentals).

It's really not the highest achievements in the quantity department, but you know it's all about the quality. That's why we all love Mark.

Never watched this film in full simply because I just don't like the genre.  I watched part of it for Columbo.  Oh, one more thing - I listened to it for the music!
