Exactly. At first I thought about Chet Atkins:)

I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home

Imagine being invited by Mark to play his song as if it was written just for you. I think Tommy now at least 99% happier than he was before! :thumbsup

Lyrics and name anyone? Here's my take with my mad English skills:

You don't wanna get you one of those  ??? ???

That old car would like to break your heart
But she too far gone, to even start
Take it for one who knows
You don't wanna get you one of those

She's always been as mean as she appears
Ain't done no Rock and Roll in 4 years
They should put it in a 'Crusher!' I suppose
You don't wanna get you one of those

Leave her over there behind the barn
Where , she’ll be 'out of the way!'
She's got Chassis rot
The gear box shot!
She's had her day

It's all over for that old heap
She needs a whole lot of more than beauty sleep
If you want to get you one that goes
You don't wanna get you one of those

Guitar solo

Leave her over there behind the barn
Where, she’ll be 'out of the way!'
She's got Chassis rot
The gear box shot!
She's had her day

It's all over for that old heap
She needs a whole lot of more than beauty sleep
If you want to get you one that goes
You don't wanna get you one of those

I like this little tune, it's nice the same way Quality Shoe is or Your Perfect Song. Not exactly the kind of lyrics I would  expect from a man who is called brilliant master songwriter at every occasion. But it sounds classic from the very beginning. Timeless. And I guess that is not so easy to achieve.

And there is a solo in it obviously and that's not too bad either.

Nice extended introductIon from TE. Did he really say "...He and his brother"?

Is that the MK's song? I didn't had time yet to listen to the big video to search for MK song... so I don't know if this little one is the MK song either :(

LE, yeah, he said something about his brother! But Emmanuel brothers seem a little bit more wise to grow up in peace to me.

Tommy's the man! Never played a single MK cover except occasional Sultans and Local Hero which wasn't his idea in the first place. Was waiting for the song being written for him instead! :lol ;D :clap

I guess it's one of those songs MK had written in the past but didn't include in any record, that song title is familiar to me, so it's possible I already read it long before, I might be wrong anyway, some of the unreleased MK titles looks quite the same  ;D

Well, jbaent, this song could easily be a B-side for "Daddy's Gone To Knoxville"! And it reminds me of an old classic song "Walking My Baby Home" Tommy loves to play time from time:

But what strikes me is the "I suppose" line. Why it sounds SO KNOPFLER? I mean you hear it and think — oh, that definitely must be MK. But why? It's not like his catchphrase even. Genius!

I guess there is probably no other artist that you have listened to at hundreds of interviews and videos than Mark Knopfler... so his way of speaking and his talking habits might be more familiar to you than those of some folks of your own surrounding... (sometimes I really think he is one of the small group of people I REALLY seem to know).. so you must have heard him say "I suppose" dozens of times... I suppose?
