Feel a bit a Bob Marley vibe in this song.  :think

I felt the same way  ;D
"
Despite the fact this is not obviously reggae, it has some reggae chops. The ambient, the mood, the secondary male vocals that shout in a certain part, percussion arrangement and something on the guitar solo could make that feel

On the other hand, the Calypso flavour remainds me the irish-calypso-reggae-prog-rock "Portobello Belle" versions (82-83). Calypso drums are only missing, but i guess that it would bee too much for this record  :lol

I really get that world-infused vibe of many Paul Simon songs from it, quite nice. This might become one of my favourites.

You can say that about a lot of music can't you?

I have the feeling that we (not you!!) we are a bunch of very spoiled die-harders which expectations that CANNOT be fullfilled by him. We have also many musical prejudices in our head that prevent us from encountering the songs more open minded. So MK is ahead of us in this case to a certain extent..

Again .. your post just let me go off with this twaddle.. it's not directes to you.  :wave

Haha

Well danceband is something very Scandinavian. You wouldn't understand.   :)

I wouldn't have the heart to let the good people of AMIT get exposed to that cringeworthy experience so let's just leave it at that. The Scandinavians in here will smile and nod. :)

I wonder if the unmentioned songwriter (who MK states he knows) who said those lines might be Mr Bob. Sounds like something that he would crow out.

"I'll lighten up for you if you heavy up for me".

MK's usually keen on name dropping if someone was the inspiration for a song. But now he's secretive.

And I have a question about the term ...

I find "to lighten up" in every dictionary. But heavy up not. So is it indeed not a usual phrase but "invented" by that songwriter as the opposite of lighten  up?

Riiiiiiiiight, that was so strange. Why you can be so secretive about some songwriter? He mentioned Bob Dylan before no problem...

I agree. These are invented words to refer to the opposite of "lighten up".
So the meaning of "why should I lighten up for you if you can’t heavy up for me?" is "why I should make it easy for you if you can't take care of mine?"
