Many DS / MK concerts were recorded and never appeared, but studio material is something else

keep in mind it's not finished studio material, it's only demos.

I like demos

As the saying goes: always expect the worst and you'll never be disappointed.

In the Old Vic page for the Local Hero musical there are two snippets of two of the songs of the film

https://www.oldvictheatre.com/whats-on/2020/local-hero

HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM

GOING HOME

I only listened to it at work with a bad speaker so I cannot say if it's recorded from one of the Edinburgh performances, or if it's really for the musical cast cd release!

I kind of answer myself... soundcloud says it was uploaded 8 months ago so it looks it's recorded from the Edinburgh performances or during the rehearsals for the Edinburgh run  :hmm

I asked Guy today about the Local Hero musical because he mentioned "Local Hero soundtrack, TBA" and this is what he answered:

Q: Local Hero soundtrack. TBA? I guess you mean the musical soundtrack, isn’t it? We are so very much looking forward to having that wonderful songs in our players…

A: Soundtrack and stage musical.  I cannot say anything about these right now so…stay tuned.

I don't really know what he means with this, as far as we know the idea was to release a cast cd with the actors of the musical singing and maybe the musicians that play in the musical, or maybe the original versions of the songs they recorded but with the cast voices... We know that MK and other singers (like Karen Matheson) recorded demos for the musical, so... maybe Guy means there is going to be two releases, one from the cast, and one from what they recorded with MK, Karen etc etc?

Or maybe he just mean news regarding the cast cd and the come back to the Old Vic...

Too excited to fully understand, LOL

Maybe one CD with the singers and musicians from the stage performance, a cast recording, and another one with Mark and his musicians?
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

I personally doubt there'll be two different recordings; demand won't be sufficient for this.

Sting did pretty much the same, he released his album The Last Ship, and also, separately, they released an album with cast recording for the musical. I think Mark's album will be filled with songs like "It's Oly Rocks and Water" sung by various artists and the cast recording is just the recording of an actual event.

They could release both as a package together.

They will package it with the half speed remaster for an inflated price and call it super deluxe.
It will probably be the only "super deluxe" MK ever releases :thumbsdown
